RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, OH – JUNE 2019 – This year’s fund raiser for Rescue Village is excited to feature a beautiful live-edge river coffee table for auction from Russell Township’s own Ed Johnson and the craftsmen at Chagrin Valley Custom Furniture (CVCF).

This fast- growing, custom furniture company started in the basement of Bainbridge’s Sheldon Myeroff in 2015. After moving to a large furniture making facility in 2018, Ed was named administrator of the company which now has a national clientele including upscale restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, and homes in the USA. Ed is not only a talented custom furniture craftsman, he’s also an animal lover.

Rescue Village is a non-kill animal shelter on Rt. 306.  Ed wants more people to learn about this fine organization and what they do, year-after-year. “While they mostly handle dogs and cats, they also take in horses, birds, goats, and more. It is a worthy cause and I am happy to help”, replied Ed. For the past six years, CVCF has supported Ed in donating a pair of classic mahogany adirondack chairs. “This year we decided to do something more in line with what we design and build at CVCF,” said Johnson. “People are contacting us from all over the United States to have us work on river tables that they actually help to design to their specific specs and space.”

If you’ve never seen a live edge river table before, you’re in for a special treat. Epoxy resin river tables have been called the biggest rage by high end interior designer Debra Coltune, owner of the posh DWG Motif stores in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Colored epoxy resin is poured between two slabs of live edge wood and supported with custom metal or wood legs. Dark blue resin for a simple river or lake, yellow to match the surrounding interior design of a home or office, even backlit rivers for a stunning special effect…any color and design that the customer desires. These tables take time to design and produce. That is what makes them so incredible.

Ed is a veteran furniture maker who joined CVCF in 2017. Ed came to Cleveland via Freehold, New Jersey, the same town Bruce Springsteen is from, to work for BP. For over 40 years, Ed has pursued woodworking as a hobby while studying under some of the great furniture making mentors of our day. Chagrin Valley Custom Furniture in Cleveland, Ohio specializes in exceptionally beautiful, artistic and durable custom rustic and modern live edge tables, interior sliding barn doors, buffet tables, countertops, bar tops, and other furniture and wood accessories. Everything they make is made-to-order from real natural slabs of wood.
