Epoxy resin rivers are created by placing two live edge slabs of wood in a shadow box and leaving empty space between the slabs for the epoxy. The resin is then mixed and poured between the slabs layer by layer until it tops off, allowing each layer to dry at least 24 hours. These compounds that are released from liquids or solids are called volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Many common epoxy resins contain these VOCs, so after careful research, we entered the epoxy resin business using Ecopoxy resin. Their epoxy resin is bio-based and VOC free.
